Proposed revisions to the ABII Continuing Education Requirements and the ABII 10-Year Requirements
The ABII Board of Trustees is proposing updates to the ABII Continuing Education Requirements and the ABII 10-Year Requirements.
Public comments about the proposed changes are requested on or before October 8, 2024 through email to
info@abii.org.
The proposed changes are as follows:
ABII Continuing Education Requirements
- All occurrences of "Educational institution" are redefined as "accredited college or university."
- Continuing Education Activities not accepted are described in new Section 13.
- All occurrences of "Provide assigned course number if available" are revised to "Provide assigned course number."
- Requirements are updated for a certificate of participation or email verification of completion to include number of contact hours and date(s) of participation.
- The requirement for an attendee list with first and last names as supporting documentation for preparing and presenting an academic course from an accredited college or university is removed.
- The requirement for presentation materials for supporting documentation of an Academic Course is replaced with an outline of the activity.
- Item Writing CE calculations are adjusted from one hour per every six items submitted to one hour per every two items submitted.
- A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) or link to publication is added to the reference requirements for authoring content in a published peer review journal.
- The Standardized CE Form is revised to include a Reference/Course Number.

ABII 10-Year Requirements
- Section 5.2 Practice Option is updated to include the option of downloading and completing a form that includes all elements needed to successfully submit report.
- Section 5.3.1 Education Option, Mentoring a non-CIIP is updated to include the option of downloading and completing a form that includes all elements needed to successfully submit report.
- Section 5.3.1 Education Option, Preparing and Presenting a Lecture for non-CIIPs is updated to replace the summary requirement with an outline of how the presentation(s) provided education to non-CIIPs.
- Section 5.3.1 Education Option, Preparing and Presenting a Lecture for non-CIIPs is updated to remove the requirement for an objective and syllabus for the presentation(s).
- Section 5.3.1 Education Option, Preparing and Presenting a Lecture for non-CIIPs is updated to replace the requirement for submitting all presentation materials with a sample of the presentation materials used, limited to 10 or less key slides.
